Cross Creek Meadows Veterans Retreat with Camp Hope – We Need Your Help! 🇺🇸

From May 1st - 4th, Cross Creek Meadows is partnering with Camp Hope, a residential PTSD recovery facility in Houston known for its dedication to helping veterans. We are honored to host this therapeutic riding retreat, offering healing, connection, and peace through horsemanship. To make this event possible, we need to borrow 10 lesson horses for groundwork in the arena and short, peaceful pasture rides led by Matt Smith and our dedicated volunteers. Each horse will have its own stall-type area, and we will provide feed unless you have a specific kind you prefer. A Coggins certificate is required for each horse.

If you don’t have a horse to lend, you can still make a difference. It costs $50 per day for each veteran to participate, or $200 for the full retreat, and your donation helps provide this life-changing experience for those who have sacrificed so much. If you’re able to help in any way, please reach out. Your support makes all the difference.

Adaptive Riding (AR), formerly known as Therapeutic Riding, is a branch of Equine-Assisted Services (EAS) in which participants learn a "whole horse" approach to horsemanship and horseback riding skills. A disability does not have to limit a person from riding horses, and experiencing the motion of a horse can be very therapeutic. Because horesback riding rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance, and muscle strength.

At Cross Creek meadows, AR lessons are provided under the direction of a PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and are tailored to meet each participant's needs and desires. Our instructors also include a variety of fun and educational games and activities that enhance each lesson experience.
