About
Our Mission
Cross Creek Meadows exists to provide opportunity for physical, mental, and spiritual growth through equine-assisted activities, therapies, and retreats.
Our hearts desire is to see others served in such a manner that they begin to grow mentally as they feel independent and confident doing equine assisted activities. To see them growing spiritually by learning they are fearfully and woderfully made by God and cared for by those serving them. We want them to develop physical strengths as well by using their muscles through equine-assisted activities.

Our
Story
Our founder, Darla Wurtz, repreatedly heard or would see the scripture Psalm 27:13 that read, "I would have despaired had I not believed I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living," during a season that it didn't make sense. Things were going well for months, yet the verse kept showing up. Then one day, Darla was told her mother had months to live and the verse made more sense. Her mother left her land after she passed and then her husband died suddenly 12 months later. It was then that she knew she must do something with the land that would reveal the goodness of the Lord in the land of the LIVING. After months of prayer, God showed her through numerous events, airplane flights, a Dallas restaurant, a beach condo and several different people that he wanted her to use part of the land to house an equine center to serve people with disabilities, veterans, and others, even though she new nothing about horses.

She realized right away that sometimes God uses the least likely person to do something so that others will know it is Him. God provided the lawyer, the funds to build the "Big Red Barn," the board, the community of donors and all that was needed to get started. He did it and all glory is to Him. It is a Christ Centered Facility where our vision is to see Him honored and known using horses as an avenue to serve others.
